(Kingston, Jamaica) Having recently released his acclaimed inspirational single “Better Tomorrow” reggae recording artist Duane Stephenson will join some of the biggest and brightest stars in the reggae fraternity this Sunday June 5th at the VP Records / Irish and Chin “Mighty Crown Reggae For Japan Benefit Concert” to be staged at York College in Queens New York.
Stephenson who has been on tour in the U.S with the legendary Wailers Band since early January will perform this Sunday in a bid to raise proceeds to assist those affected by the devastating earthquake that shook several cities in Japan earlier this year.
The show which was organized by Japanese Sound System and ambassadors of reggae music in Japan “Mighty Crown” along with executive sponsors VP Records will co-ordinate the fundraising event which currently boasts a stellar lineup which includes three time Grammy Award winning artist Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley alongside the fire man Capleton, Mr. Freddie McGregor, Maxi Priest, Tarrus Riley, Etana, Gramps Morgan, Mojo Morgan, Tanya Stephenson, Mr. Vegas, Alaine, Chino, Laden and a host of other entertainers.
With Japan being the largest reggae market in Asia, the local music fraternity is playing its part by giving back to the people who have supported the genre for decades. Following the Concert organizers will donate all profits from the “Reggae For Japan” show in the form of a cheque to the American Red Cross who continues to provide financial relief through the Japanese Red Cross to the people of Japan.
